We are looking for a Civil or Electrical Technologist to join our Vancouver, Kelowna or Victoria office and be part of our Energy team. You will prepare engineering drawings for electrical projects which often can include a civil component.
The mentoring and resources made available to you will enable you to develop a strong understanding of electrical design of renewable generation, duct bank design, transmission and low / medium voltage distribution (T&D).
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist designers on site visits to determine the nature of work required (poles, conductors, anchors, equipment condition assessment, preferred routing options)
- Create and modify CAD drawings using AutoDesk Civil 3D
- Prepare civil drawings that include cross-sections, profiles, site plans, grading plans, details, elevations, and other relevant design elements based on provided markup drawings
- Utilize GIS data to design overhead & underground distribution networks
- Produce Bluebeam drawings for client project designs
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members
- Assist in completing applications for all applicable municipality construction permits
- Communicate professionally with clients to create CAD drawings, updating the drawings and issuing the PDF drawings
- Receive and file drawings and documents in the appropriate CIMA+ standard file folder structure
- Handle key project management activities, such as estimating.
- Coordinate with other discipline engineers, designers and CAD staff as part of a multidisciplinary team
Qualifications
Electrical or Civil Engineering Technology Degree5 years of working experience in electrical utility distribution and transmission (T&D) infrastructure or equivalentUnderstanding of basic electrical design including (but not limited to) distribution line design, circuiting, switching controls, mechanical equipment connections and single-line diagrams is a bonusProficient in the use of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, Revit, PLS-CADD,SPIDACALC or Solidworks softwareAGI 32 or Elum Tools lighting analysis software experience (an asset)Strong communication skills along with excellent interpersonal abilitiesStrong organizational skills to plan, organize and implement work within a specified budget while meeting the project deadlinesThe expected salary for this position ranges from $60 640 to $90 960 per hour, depending on your academic program, the number of credits earned, and your previous co-op or internship experience. The final offer and salary may be adjusted based on your unique profile.
