About The Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Mechanical Estimator generates detailed cost estimates for commercial and industrial mechanical scopes by reviewing project specifications, drawings, and site requirements. This role supports accurate budgeting, pricing efforts, and builds strong vendor relationships to secure competitive and reliable pricing.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend all site visits to gather mechanical project information, take notes and photos, and organize documentation within SharePoint.
- Develop detailed mechanical scope of work documents and obtain customer sign-off to confirm alignment and expectations.
- Collaborate with internal estimators and project teams to define scope and support design direction for design‑build or mechanical upgrade projects.
- Assess whether mechanical engineering input is required and coordinate accordingly to support pricing.
- Work with internal and external mechanical design / engineering teams to obtain accurate and timely specifications for estimating.
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for industrial mechanical projects.
- Source and evaluate pricing from multiple electrical vendors and suppliers to ensure competitive and accurate cost data.
- Compile and coordinate all mechanical scope components for RFQ submissions where Millwright, Metal Fabrication, or Welding is the lead trade.
- Develop the initial Bill of Materials (BOM), Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), and project handoff documents specific to mechanical scopes.
- Support the estimation and pricing of mechanical change orders as required throughout the project lifecycle.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with mechanical suppliers and distributors to secure favorable pricing and reliable cost inputs.

The ideal candidate is a skilled Mechanical Estimator with experience in design‑build in both commercial and industrial mechanical projects. You are a self‑starter who takes initiative, follows through on tasks, and consistently delivers competitive estimates. With a strong understanding of mechanical systems, you collaborate effectively with vendors and internal teams to manage risks, optimize costs, and meet deadlines. You maintain a positive attitude, are solutions‑oriented, and are committed to upholding high standards of safety, quality, and client relationships.
Our Must Haves
2+ years of experience estimating mechanical design‑build projects in commercial and industrial sectors, typically ranging from $50k to $2 million.Familiarity with public and private tendering processes and understanding of contract structures and bidding requirements.Red Seal Millwright, Metal Fabrication / Fitter, or Welding certification preferred.Experience with SolidWorks and Bluebeam is preferred.Strong interpersonal skills to engage with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project).Your Rewards
