About the position

CSL Australia is currently looking for a permanent full time Chief Engineer to join our transhipment operation in Western Australia. Reporting to the Master, the Chief Engineer is the head of the Engine Department.

In addition, the Chief Engineer will be responsible for:

• The safe/efficient operation, maintenance and repair of all machinery and electrical equipment onboard;

• Supervising all Engineering Officers, while adhering to budgets and purchasing procedures of the Company;

• Safeguarding the Overs’ and Company’s interest at all times;

• Assisting the Chief Officer in the operation of the ship’s cargo equipment;

• Keeping the Chief Officer advised of any bunker, lubricating oils or sludge transfers which may affect the ship’s trim, stress and/or stability.

About you

• Educational requirement: as per AMSA Marine Order 72 – Engineer class 1 (required)

  AMSA Chief Engineer (Class 1) CoC/CoR Unlimited

  Minimum 12 months sea time as a First Engineer (required)

• Certificate of Safety Training (STCW III/2) (desirable)

• Work Safely at Heights Certification (desirable)

• Enter and Work in Confined Space Certification (desirable)

• Hold, or be eligible to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) (required)

• Australian Citizen or unlimited Australian Working Rights

• Living in Australia

• Be comfortable wearing a respirator
