Purpose

This position supports the East Region senior tax manager and responsible for the existing tax function in the Liberty East Region including tax provision, tax compliance, planning, forecast, and rate case support. This is a key position in the tax department to ensure the Liberty East Region entities meet their external and internal tax reporting, regulatory and compliance requirements. This position is also expected to provide acquisition support the East Region Senior Tax Manager.

Accountabilities
- Prepare U.S. GAAP quarterly and annual income tax provisions for Liberty East group to support public reporting and stand –alone financial statement requirements
- Ensure appropriate internal controls are executed
- Maintain regulatory tax accounts and manage amortization of excess deferred income tax
- Work with third-party tax preparers to ensure Liberty East group income tax returns are filed accurately and timely
- Support the regulatory filing and forecasting process to ensure accurate and timely reporting
- Assist in long-term tax forecasting and annual tax expense budgeting
- Ensure local income tax provisions are appropriately recorded on a timely basis
- Work with financial statement and government tax auditors to ensure smooth audit processes
- Provide technical tax support for sales and property tax matter
- Assist in tax research and planning assignments
- Work with the ERP Team on tax subject matters to ensure smooth implementation of Power Plan and Power Tax systems in East Region entities
- React to change productively and undertake other tasks as assigned
- Respond to ad hoc tax queries and advise internal parties of tax implications on transaction as needed
Education and Experience
Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in U.S. corporate income tax along with a professional accounting designation (CPA preferred)Exposure to regulated utility income tax matters preferredDegree in tax, accounting, finance, or businessSelf-directed and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.Excellent communication skills (both written & oral) and interpersonal skills to effectively work with other team members and different departmentsAttention to detail and strong hands-on skillsProficient in the use of MS office products; SAP or similar; Power Plan and Power Tax exposure preferred; Hyperion smart-view preferredOur purpose is sustaining energy and water for life, and it is demonstrated in everything we do as a business and as an employee team.
