The organization and the role
FoodBridge works with stakeholders in the agricultural, food, financial and government sectors to support farmers in adopting sustainable practices.
Through action research, convening and communication, FoodBridge contributes to building resilient food and agricultural systems that ensure healthy soils, clean water, abundant biodiversity, a stable climate and sustainable livelihoods for all.
Farmers are increasingly interested in moving to more regenerative agriculture, but often need technical and commercial support to diversify their rotations and adopt new practices.
To reach a turning point, collaborations must be developed upstream with agricultural communities and downstream with agri-food markets.
We are looking for a Supply Chain Project Manager for a 6-month contract, minimum 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- In partnership with FoodBridge’s Director and other team members, develop and maintain strong relationships with food and beverage companies, particularly in Ontario, to understand their sourcing practices and sustainability goals;
- Help develop collaborative projects bringing together different actors in the food chain (agricultural producers, manufacturers, distributors and retailers), as well as other relevant actors (agronomists, researchers, governments and other organizations);
- Contribute to the organization of events for agri-food businesses and other partners to collaborate in the advancement of regenerative and sustainable agricultural and food systems;
- Undertake scans and grounded research for specific initiatives such as farm financing and measurement, reporting and verification projects;
- Contribute to the organization's communication tools (newsletter, blogs, letters, funding requests) and to team knowledge building.
Skills sought
- Experience working in or with the food industry, with strong understanding and diverse connections in the Ontario agri-food environment;
- Training in management, commerce, finance, economics, environment, food, agriculture and / or a related field;
- Ideally, experience with quantifying environmental impacts (GHG, biodiversity, sustainable agriculture) and knowledge of measurement, reporting and verifications practices and tools;
- Strong interest in sustainable agriculture;
- Fluency in oral and written English; working knowledge of French ideal but not required
- Excellent ability to establish and maintain relationships with various stakeholders (food industry, agriculture and others);
- Sense of initiative, strategic abilities, ability to work independently and collaborate;
- Ability to use digital platforms (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive);
- Personal qualities of curiosity and perseverance, rigor and flexibility, openness, collaboration and a good sense of humor.
Workplace
Hybrid : Ontario or Quebec, with willingness to travel frequently to meet with partners (primarily Ontario) and team (Montreal office).
Terms
- 20-25 hours per week, 6-month contract, possibility of renewal.
- $50-75 per hour
