At Sobeys, we’re investing in data-driven loyalty and personalization. Our Loyalty Solutions team is building the future of Personalized Offer Management, transitioning from vendor-led systems to in-house ownership. We’re looking for a Solutions Architect who can drive scalable, secure, and integrated architecture to support this transformation.
You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams including analysts, developers, DevOps, marketing stakeholders, and vendor partners. This is a high-impact role that will directly shape how millions of Canadians experience personalized value from our loyalty programs.
This position is based out of Mississauga, ON.
Here’s where you’ll be focusing:
Key Responsibilities
Architecture: Design & Implementation
• Maintain and evolve the solution architecture for personalized offers, loyalty integrations and related systems, ensuring alignment with enterprise and domain architecture standards.
• Translate functional requirements into scalable, secure, and resilient technical designs leveraging Azure services, event-driven architecture, and API-first principles.
• Define and document integration patterns, system interactions, and data flow diagrams for core loyalty capabilities.
• Develop and review solution blueprints, HLFDs, and technical architecture deliverables.
• Ensure code quality through code reviews, reusable design patterns, and performance optimization.
• Evaluate trade-offs between architecture options based on performance, cost, maintainability, and delivery speed.
• Evaluate and provide input into discovery initiatives, business proposals and charters for new projects
• Support estimation and dependency management across loyalty and personalized offers related projects.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Collaborate with product owners, delivery leads, developers, DevOps, data team, and security team to ensure shared architectural understanding and technical feasibility.
• Partner with internal and vendor architects to align on design, integration strategy and governance.
• Act as a technical authority in discussions with business stakeholders, translating requirements into solution designs.
• Assist on recommendations for business process change and change management.
Innovation & Strategic Influence
• Evaluate vendor platforms and plan the transition toward in-house, cloud-native capabilities where feasible.
• Participate in vendor evaluations and POCs for off-the-shelf integration or modernization opportunities.
• Research and evaluate emerging technologies and tools to support future platform capabilities (., AI, personalization engines, headless loyalty).
Governance & Standards
• Coach technical leads and developers, and drive architecture governance, including technical debt management, reusability, and scalability.
• Contribute to and enforce standards around API design, data contracts, identity, observability, and deployment strategies.
• Define and implement non-functional requirements (NFRs) including high availability, performance, and compliance for all existing major capabilities.
• Contribute to observability improvements through architectural design choices.
