Hourly Range : $35–55 / hour

Defined Shift : Mon‑Friday 8 hours Shift

Job Overview

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Millwright Maintenance Lead is responsible for leading the maintenance team, organizing and managing preventive maintenance (PM) schedules, work orders and maintenance spare parts, troubleshooting equipment, managing contractors, and supporting the trades teams in breakdown recovery and other maintenance tasks. This role ensures the smooth operation of equipment in the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with equipment installation, setup, and commissioning.
  • Help define PM requirements, spare parts lists, and work order processes.
  • Assist in writing SOPs and maintenance work permits.
  • May assist in completing Functional Acceptance Tests of equipment.
  • Install and maintain plant equipment (motors, pumps, shredders, crushers, mills, conveyors).
  • Lead and instruct maintenance staff.
  • Manage spare parts to ensure availability for optimum plant reliability.
  • Provide tools and support for maintenance staff in breakdown recovery and planned maintenance activities.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment to reduce downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues, including motors, gearboxes, bearings, and hydraulic systems.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for both mechanical and electrical failures.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and test equipment to assess equipment performance and identify root causes.
  • Complete work orders and communicate maintenance needs to the team.
  • Ensure compliance with local provincial regulations regarding equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Assist in maintaining facility compliance with environmental and safety regulations, particularly hazardous materials handling and waste management.
  • Follow strict safety protocols, including lock‑out / tag‑out (LOTO) procedures.
  • Assist in the installation of new equipment or upgrades to existing systems to improve plant efficiency and productivity.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, parts used, and inspections.

Qualifications

  • Must Have :
  • 433A Industrial Millwright license.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training in electrical or mechanical systems, or relevant certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a chemical processing environment.
  • Strongly Preferred :
  • Strong understanding and hands‑on experience with mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, motors, and rotating equipment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from mechanical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Experience with welding, fabrication, and basic machining processes.
  • Basic understanding of electrical troubleshooting, motor control systems, PLCs, and VFDs.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate across departments.
  • Working Conditions

  • Industrial plant environment : noise, dust, varying temperatures.
  • On‑call availability.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
  • Compensation

    Base compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and competencies and will consider internal equity.

    Salary Range : CA$60,000.00 – CA$72,000.00
