Overview
Licensed Practical Nurse (Temp evenings) – supports the general well-being of residents through high-quality services aligned with Chartwell Retirement Residences policies, procedures, and philosophy.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic assessments and treatment, personal care, medication administration, and delegated health services to residents, and support and educate Health Care Aides as needed.
- Communicate with residents and families to ensure needs are met and services are highly satisfactory.
- Demonstrate appreciation of residents’ heritage, values, and aging process or living with a disability; facilitate and encourage family involvement with residents.
- Administer medications within the LPN scope of practice in accordance with regulations and standards.
- Perform delegated nursing skills accurately and skillfully.
- Complete routine assessments and continuously monitor resident health status; report observations to the Assisted Living Manager and take appropriate action.
- Ensure services identified in the Care Plan are delivered per established service standards and approved levels.
- Document services and charting in accordance with policies and procedures; maintain records of residents’ physical and mental condition; document resident incidents in the client record.
Qualifications
Graduate from a recognized LPN program and hold valid registration with applicable LPN associations.Strong knowledge of geriatric, rehabilitation, or long-term / retirement nursing, including activation, nursing, and personnel administration; familiarity with Health Disciplines Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Pharmacy Act, Food and Drugs Act (Canada), Narcotic Control Act (Canada), and other relevant statutes affecting the Nursing department.Ability to demonstrate empathy, strong customer service orientation, and conflict-resolution skills.About Us
