Job description

Full-Time Endocrinologist – Markham Stouffville Hospital

Markham Stouffville Hospital (part of Oak Valley Health) is a growing community hospital just north of the Greater Toronto Area, and is offering a position for an Endocrinologist to start in July 2025 (start date negotiable).

Markham Stouffville Hospital is a collegial environment, with a group of highly motivated and skilled sub-specialists, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, nurses, and allied health care teams. The in-patient 330 bed hospital and out-patient services currently serve the communities of Markham, Stouffville, Uxbridge and surrounding area of over 400,000 residents. It is a fantastic place to work!

As a medium-large community hospital, Oak Valley Health has a strong commitment to patient care, and to the growth of our Academic Plan. This includes a robust and growing Research program, and the ability to obtain a faculty appointment at the University of Toronto.

Responsibilities include 1 day per week in the Adult Diabetes Education Clinic, with strong support from multidisciplinary educators. Coverage of the inpatient Endocrinology consultation service is also required, on call 1 in 5 weeks. The successful candidate will be able to take on a full roster of new patients in their practice, and show interest in collaborating with the Pediatric Diabetes Clinic (including transitioning patients into the Adult clinic). The candidate will join a group of four other Endocrinologists, and a number of enthusiastic, collegial multidisciplinary staff in the Diabetes Education Clinic. Note that no Internal Medicine coverage is required. As we are also undergoing significant upgrades to our Digital Strategy (including computerized physician order entry), an interest in helping develop and optimize Endocrinology-related CPOE order sets would be an added benefit.
