As Manager, Recovery Community Policy and Programs, you are a critical thinker and problem-solver who will play a crucial role in expanding Alberta’s innovative Recovery Communities, and help our ministry reach our goals for mental health and addiction care in Alberta!

Responsibilities Includes :

1. Policy and Program Leadership :

  • Support the continued growth of Alberta’s Recovery Community program, and provide operational oversight of recovery communities.
  • Lead ongoing efforts to incorporate best practices and innovations into the Recovery Community program, including social enterprise.
  • Provide operational oversight of other addiction treatment and workforce development programs
  • Ensure adherence to grant terms and ministry requirements.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leaders on project progress and fearless advice to inform policy decisions.
  • Collect and manage data to monitor impact and outcomes of programs.

2. Grant and Contract Management :

  • Manage funding allocations for Recovery Community operators and and community agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with grant agreements and address challenges.
  • Prepare updates for Ministry leadership on grant progress and outcomes.
  • 3. Stakeholder Relationship Management :

  • Foster relationships with recovery community operators and key community service delivery partners, as well as other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Indigenous Recovery Community Policy and Programs, in shaping Alberta’s Recovery Community program.
  • Participate in cross-ministry committees and stakeholder consultations.
  • Represent Ministry perspectives on national committees as needed
  • 4. Team Leadership :

  • Oversee performance management and recruitment for the unit.
  • Coach team members and develop operations plans.
  • Ensure adherence to Ministry frameworks and manage resources.
  • 5. Unit and Branch Leadership Support :

  • Provide input on unit, branch and department programs and functions.
  • Create briefings and reports for senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with department staff for program integration.
  • Develop recommendations for program improvement.
