The Opportunity
Banff Centre is looking for an experienced Nigh Watch Attendant to provide a safe, secure, and pleasant environment for Banff Centre staff living on campus. The Night Watch Attendant will conduct regular surveillance as scheduled when working the night shift within the assigned building (Becker Residence and Corbett Hall) and is expected to act in a professional and confidential manner at all times
Roles and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Staff Housing, below are some key accountabilities :
- Conduct hourly foot patrols within the assigned building to ensure there are no disruptions, excessive noise, trespassers, or maintenance / health and safety concerns to report.
- Understand the policies and procedures set forth by the Staff Housing department and communicate them to the residents when necessary.
- Monitor all persons entering the building to ensure that no visitors access the property after 11 : 00 pm unless they have an overnight guest pass.
- Document hourly patrols and assist in documenting incidents / occurrences as required.
- Work with CCTV software to monitor Don Becker Residence / Corbett Hall and the surrounding area in accordance with established policy and procedures.
- Respond / react to situations when they arise, providing approved solutions or contacting Banff Centre Security Services or the appropriate authorities for assistance if necessary.
- Perform clerical and office duties as required, with a high standard of neatness and accuracy.
- Comply with heath and safety policies and practices at all times.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Completion of secondary school and 6+ months of related experienceAbility to conduct lengthy foot patrols of a multi-storied buildingStrong attention to detail, demonstrated observation skills and decision-making abilitiesAdequate computer skills for completion of administrative tasks and reporting proceduresRecognize and demonstrate the need for initiative in dealing with and resolving problemsRespond to contentious or highly sensitive issues with discretionAbility to work alone independently with minimal supervisionAbility to deal effectively with confidential mattersCurrent certificate for Standard First AidA valid driver’s license / clear driving recordSpecial Requirements
The Night Watch Attendant will work an 8 : 00 pm to 4 : 00 am shift. Working on weekends and holidays may be required.Employment Terms and Benefits
