About the Role
Provides direct support to the engineering design team to facilitate preparation and implementation of Engineering Change Requests and Change Orders in the PLM system. Prepares detailed Bills of Materials for new product configurations and maintains data structures through to product end of life. Acts as a Subject Matter Expert of PLM system best practices and change processes for engineering in regular technical review board meetings for all product lines.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for planning, preparation, and execution of sustaining and NPI engineering changes of varying complexity;
- Check complex engineering changes for accuracy and compliance with company standards, including the creation of required reports and rotating representation at various weekly Technical Review Board meetings;
- Build and maintain product baseline BOM structures based on input from design and manufacturing engineering;
- Liaise with other engineering departments, project management, PMO, and CM to facilitate the release of engineering changes;
- Lead activities related to commercial part number validation, data entry, and obsolescence;
- Represent engineering as a subject matter expert in engineering change management;
- Train new engineering members on processes and tools and maintain relevant training materials;
- Support the development / implementation of departmental and cross-functional continuous improvement projects.
Required Capabilities
Good knowledge of automated CM tools (PLM / ERP applications); Good working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint;Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;An effective communicator, able to articulate complex solutions clearly and concisely;A proven track record of owning complex problems and seeing them to closure;Working knowledge of CM Principles, Concepts, Practices & Standards and their various applications (particularly ANSI / EIA-649 Rev.C);Capability to understand engineering documentation & terminology;Good knowledge of managing engineering component selection, management, and obsolescence;Exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting information, handling deviations from standard methods, and resolving difficulties;Willingness to embrace change, with a drive to champion the implementation of quality / continuous improvement initiatives;Ability to handle multiple tasks and effectively balance priorities to meet deadlines;Demonstrated capability of working under tight timelines;Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment;High level of self-motivation, energy, and tenacity;Meets the requirements of the Controlled Goods Registration Program and is eligible for a Canadian government security clearance.Desired Education and Experiences
Degree in a Technology / Business program, or an equivalent combination of diploma and related experience;Minimum two years of experience in Configuration Management, or Engineering Document Control Environment, or Document Control / Management;Working Knowledge of Configuration Management principles, concepts, practices, and standards (CM Industry standard EIA-649 Rev.
