The West Vancouver Community Services Department has an opening for a replacement temporary full-time Program Coordinator – Volunteer Services. Reporting to the Community Recreation Supervisor, this position will be responsible for:
·Accepting, and responding to, enquiries about volunteer opportunities in Parks and Community Services;
·Generating and maintaining a current list of volunteer opportunities available in Parks and Community Services for children, youth and adults;
·Procuring volunteers, as required, by Parks and Community Service staff;
·Acting as a resource for other staff who are responsible for the supervision of volunteers;
·Promoting, organizing, scheduling, recognizing, and supervising volunteers in collaboration with other staff;
·Promoting and directing special events related to assigned phases of volunteer coordination;
·Maintaining co-operative working relationships with organizations/groups who work with volunteers;
·Implementing and managing volunteer management policies, procedures, regulations and controls that are consistent and complementary to other departments within the District of West Vancouver;
·Enforcing regulations and controls while dealing consistently and tactfully with groups or individuals;
·Managing the online tracking and recording of statistical data with regards to volunteers and their hours of work through a volunteer management program; and,
·Other related duties as required.
The preferred candidate will possess considerable experience planning, assigning, supervising, and reviewing volunteers; considerable knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of local community recreation programs; and the ability to maintain control and exercise discipline with tact and consistency.
The successful candidate has graduated from College or University with courses in Recreation, Social Sciences, Human Resources or Volunteer Management, supplemented by some experience in recreation work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A current Class 5 BC Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
The successful candidate is required to supply a Police Information Check - Vulnerable Sector and a copy of their credentials.
