About the Role
We’re looking for a Electrical Engineering Technician to support our HDPE production facility in Sackville, New Brunswick. In this role, you’ll work closely with Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams to support electrical systems, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.
This is a hands‑on, technical role focused on troubleshooting, documentation, testing, and supporting electrical and control systems rather than performing licensed electrical work. You’ll play a key role in improving reliability, safety, and performance of plant equipment.
What You’ll Do
- Support troubleshooting and optimization of electrical systems, motors, drives, PLCs, sensors, and instrumentation
- Assist with commissioning, testing, and validation of electrical and control systems
- Support PLC programming changes and automation improvements under the direction of Engineering
- Assist with control system upgrades and plant automation projects
- Prepare and maintain electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Update bills of materials, wiring diagrams, and control documentation
- Assist with root cause analysis of electrical and automation‑related downtime
- Collect and analyze equipment data to support performance improvements
- Support compliance with CSA, ESA, and internal electrical and safety standards
- Participate in hazard assessments, incident investigations, and safety initiatives
- Promote safe work practices and ensure documentation aligns with regulatory requirements
- Work closely with Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams to support plant operations
- Assist in implementing process improvements to increase equipment reliability and reduce downtime
- Support CMMS data accuracy related to electrical assets and work orders
Qualifications
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field
- 2–5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and automation
- Exposure to PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and instrumentation
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Detail‑oriented with strong documentation habits
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, hands‑on manufacturing environment
- Clear communicator and effective collaborator
- Strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement
