ACCOUNTING MANAGER There is a position available for an Accounting Manager at the District Administration Office. Applications must be completed online and will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.
This is an exempt position, and as such is not applicable for overtime.The Accounting Manager is accountable to the Secretary-Treasurer for the day-to-day operations of and the accurate recording and reporting of all financial transactions for the district.
They are tasked with the overall leadership of the accounting function, as well as the management of reporting required by the Ministry of Education and Child Care.

- Assist with monthly reporting and reconciliation to provide relevant and timely accounting services to enable effective and accurate management of accounting operations and records;
- Prepare monthly year-end forecasts as required; Assist with the preparation of the annual financial statements. Coordinate the accounting component of annual external audits;
- Assist with or prepare, financial reports required by the Ministry of Education or other Ministries / funding agencies, including the quarterly GRE reports;
- Assist with trust and capital accounting, internal and external financial reporting, financial analysis and taxation management;
- Maintain current knowledge of requirements and ensure accounting compliance with current legislation, regulations and procedures related to GST and PST calculations and remittances;
- Assist with the preparation of the annual operating budget; Ensure adequate documentation is maintained to assure the consistent continuous operation of systems and procedures;
- Maintain a thorough and current knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting systems, control and audit. Keep abreast of developments in payroll, accounting and school district management;
- Participate in the development and design of accounting systems and troubleshoot accounting system problems; Supervise staff supportive to this position;
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Secretary Treasurer. Qualification and Attributes : Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) University Degree in Business, Public Administration, Commerce or a related field;
- 5 years of progressive experience in financial reporting and accounting Excellent communication skills, both written and oral;
Strong accounting, computer, and analytical skills; Required to provide a criminal record clearance as a condition of employment.
