Senior Piping Engineer

Summary of responsibilities

Reporting to the Mechanical and Piping Engineering Lead, this position will be part of the team dedicated to managing the planning, construction and development of mining projects. More specifically, the incumbent will be called upon to:

• Prepare engineering records, including models, drawings, sketches and designs for various piping systems (pumps, lines, slurry, water, air, etc.), as well as piping department plans and specifications;
• Responsible for P&IDs;
• Provide technical support to the team of piping designers for design/basic engineering and retail projects as well as during construction phases;
• Prepare cost and time estimates, reports, design specifications and equipment/ piping system specifications;
• Participate in cost-effectiveness and feasibility studies;
• Assist with schedule development, ensure contractual deadlines are met and develop recovery plans as required;
• Supervise resources dedicated to the administration, management and monitoring of the department’s activities;
• Validate and submit budget forecasts;
• Prepare, negotiate and revise contracts, including amendments and additions to contractual agreements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or process engineering, or other related diploma;
• Minimum seven (7) years of relevant experience;
• Project achievements in heavy mining or industrial sector, a significant asset;
• Ability to communicate in English and/or French;
• Knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese is an asset;
• Good knowledge of Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook);
• Knowledge of Fathom software is an asset.
