Assistant Controller

ABOUT THIS POSITION

As the Assistant Controller at Digital Extremes you will be a key driver of financial integrity and strategic oversight. You will bridge the gap between high-level financial strategy and day-to-day operations. This role requires a high degree of technical accounting knowledge and a strong personal drive.

Reporting Structure : Reports to the Controller; oversees the Accounting Manager and Payroll team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Financial Analysis & Oversight : Lead comprehensive balance sheet and income statement analysis ensuring the integrity of the general ledger through rigorous monitoring and review of journal entries and reconciliations.
• Consolidated Reporting : Support the Controller in preparing consolidated financial statements and managing the full accounting cycle.
• Technical Excellence : Lead the accounting analysis for new accounting standards (IFRS).
• Legal & Corporate Records : Oversee the maintenance of legal and corporate records including the preparation and filing of resolutions corporate registrations and annual information filings.
• Payroll Leadership : Assume full purview over the payroll function including direct management of the payroll team
• Internal Controls : Develop and maintain a robust internal control environment to ensure financial accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Tax Support : Oversee monthly sales tax returns and assist with preparation and review of income tax returns and tax credit applications in Canada and the U.S.
• Strategic FP&A Support : Collaborate with the FP&A team on variance analysis department-level budgeting and forecasting.
• Audit Management : Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors managing the overall audit timeline and final deliverable quality.
• Controller Support & Continuity : Serve as a key support to the Controller sharing insights to support strategic decision-making and providing coverage to ensure departmental continuity.
