Senior Mechanical Design Technologist : Harvey 2634

We are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Technologist who is well versed in HVAC design and Revit, to join our team in Abbotsford, BC.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing mechanical systems for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, ensuring that energy-saving, safe, and cost-effective solutions are delivered to our clients.
You will be responsible for managing project activities from conception to completion and assisting senior staff with production.
Additionally, you will be required to perform other duties as directed by the Mechanical Engineering Manager on a project-by-project basis.
As a Senior Mechanical Technologist, you will be expected to have exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, a good understanding of mechanical engineering principles, and the ability to operate computer-aided design (CAD) software.
You will also be required to conduct site visits, liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders, and provide technical support to team members.
Responsibilities :
- Assist in the design of building related mechanical systems including HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems across Canada using applicable codes, standards, and reference materials.
- Able to work independently on specified scopes with minimal supervision
- Prepare contract drawings, schematics, schedules, details, and sketches from conceptual design through to construction.
- Produce aspects of mechanical design and drawings in REVIT MEP , as well as in AutoCAD .
- Coordination of mechanical systems and design with other disciplines
- Perform load calculations using company provided software
- Generate energy models and help with the preparation of energy modelling reports and compliance documentation.
- Facilitate and ensure the quality of the project deliverables.
- Adhere to companies design standards in preparing drawings and specifications and following the design requirements established for each project.
- Review shop drawings and other contractor submittals for compliance with construction documents.
- Perform field surveys for drawing developments, site reviews and as recorded drawings.
- Communicate with other team members and become familiar with completing assignments and projects on time as required by the Project Manager, Discipline Lead or Supervisor.

Qualifications :
7-10 years of relevant experience in a consulting firmDegree or Diploma in Mechanical EngineeringExperience in mechanical HVAC and plumbing designProficiency with Revit and AutoCAD requiredExperience coaching and mentoring junior staffStrong knowledge of mechanical systems, including plumbing, HVAC, heating and cooling.Strong knowledge of current codes and standards such as the local plumbing and building codes.Solid understanding of building science, heat transfer, thermodynamics and airflow fundamentals.Solid knowledge of NFPA, NECB, and ASHRAE standards, local building code and plumbing code.Ability to read architectural, structural, electrical and civil drawings with minimal supervision.Familiar with and capable of producing energy modelling reports using IES virtual environment softwareWorking knowledge of cooling calculation programs such as HAP or Trace700 is required.Experience in energy modeling and load calculation programs such as EE4, ComCheck, HAP, HOT2000, eQuest, DesignBuilder, OpenStudio, EnergyPlus, IES and / or PHPPKnowledge of LEED requirements is an assetThis is a full-time position
Salary of $85,000 to $130,000 plus per year, depending on current working experience
