Here's what we're looking for
We are seeking a strategic Director of Payments and Cards Operations to lead and optimize our credit card and consumer loan products. In this key role, you will ensure regulatory compliance, streamline operations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Product, Compliance, Risk / Fraud, Operations, and Finance—to drive innovation and efficiency.
As the primary point of contact for payments and cards, you will manage relationships with vendors, partners, and regulatory bodies while staying ahead of industry trends and VISA regulations. Your expertise will help identify growth opportunities, improve processes, and enhance customer experience.
Your daily responsibilities
- Serve as the subject matter expert on payments and credit card operations, providing strategic guidance to the product team on the development and execution of the roadmap;
- Stay informed of evolving trends in the payments and cards industry and effectively communicate these insights within the organization to align with business objectives;
- Act as the primary representative of the organization within the payments / cards ecosystem, engaging with key stakeholders, including existing vendors and potential future partners;
- Attend and, where appropriate, represent the company by speaking at industry conferences and events to enhance visibility and influence;
- Stay up to date with regulatory changes and assess their impact on credit card products and customer experiences;
- Serve as the organization's expert on VISA rules and regulations, ensuring compliance and interpreting any updates that may affect business operations;
- Provide key operational support for day-to-day payment processing challenges, including settlements, disputes, and other critical operational issues;
- Work cross-functionally with internal teams to address operational bottlenecks and enhance process efficiency;
- Identify and develop new revenue streams within the payments / cards sector, including opportunities for merchant partnerships, white-label offerings, and innovative card products;
- Analyze processing data proactively to identify areas for increased revenue, cost savings, and overall profitability;
- Act as the central point of contact and liaison between Credit, Compliance, Risk / Fraud, Operations, and Finance to ensure alignment of objectives and seamless collaboration;
- Foster strong internal communication to drive operational improvements and customer satisfaction;
- Conduct in-depth analysis of processing data to identify operational challenges and potential growth opportunities;
- Develop reports and recommendations to senior management to support strategic decision-making;
- Adapt strategies and operations to support the company’s growth and evolving business needs;
- Contribute to the expansion of the payments and cards function as the organization scales.
Your skills and experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Finance, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred;10+ years of experience in revolving credit card issuing, with a deep understanding of operational processes, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices;Extensive experience in payments / cards operations, preferably in roles within the financial services or fintech sector;Strong knowledge of credit card processing, industry regulations, and compliance frameworks (e.g., VISA, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard);Specific exposure to product development and the vendor ecosystem is critical to ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objective;Track record of driving operational efficiency and optimizing processes in a customer-centric environment;Fluency in both French and English is required, with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages;Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities and addressing challenges.Perks and benefits
