Role Description

Reporting to the Estimating Manager , the Senior Estimator will play a key role in preparing detailed cost estimates, analyzing project specifications, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure accurate and competitive bids for commercial, residential and industrial projects.

Overview

  • Prepare accurate quantity take-offs and cost estimates for commercial and industrial construction projects.
  • Analyze project drawings, specifications, and contracts to determine scope and requirements.
  • Obtain competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Develop project budgets and forecasts.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and proposal presentations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and consultants to ensure alignment with project expectations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry costs, materials, and market trends.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in commercial and industrial sectors.
  • PQS or equivalent designation
  • Strong understanding of Ontario Building Codes, and construction methodologies.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Plan Swift, Timberline, or equivalent).
  • Experience reading and interpreting architectural, structural, and civil drawings.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
