Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible to repair, troubleshoot, inspect equipment and perform preventative maintenance on the wide range of the companies equipment. This position is considered to be a safety-sensitive position.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee scheduling and completion of day-to-day, monthly, and annual maintenance requirements for the fleet, including completing all vehicle / equipment maintenance or inspections in a productive manner.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, service, and complete all necessary repairs on company trucks, pumping equipment and off-road equipment.
- Ensure all mechanical work is completed in a safe manner.
- Maintain maintenance reports and documentation, including work orders, annual permits, and other records.
- Work with Station Managers, Supervisors, Dispatch, and Apprentices to maintain both operation and service standards, including scheduled maintenance, equipment utilization, and allocation.
- Provide guidance and instruction to the Operations division regarding mechanical issues and maintenance procedures.
- Ensure outstanding issues with equipment are escalated and work with management to improve policies and procedures.
- Participate in companies HSE program.
- Actively implementing continuous improvements, support new designs and innovations.
- Mentor and participate in training Apprentices Heavy Equipment Technicians to a high standard.
- Perform field repairs as required.
- Participate in the on-call rotation schedule.
- Participate in training and development activities.
- Other related duties as required.
Qualifications - Required
Completion of a related trade program (Alberta Heavy Equipment Technician, Saskatchewan Truck and Transport Mechanic, or State Automotive or Diesel Technology) with some related experience.Valid driver’s license (non-graduated) with a clean driving record.Physically capable of moving / lifting heavy objects up to 23 kg., bending, standing, and climbing repeatedly for extended periods.Able to work overtime, accommodate a flexible schedule, and travel to meet the needs of the business.Legally eligible to work in the country the role is based out of.Qualifications - Looking For
