The Opportunity Mosaic is seeking a Planner to work out of our Nanaimo office on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

The Role Reporting to the Manager, Planning, the Planner is responsible for managing and coordinating a wide range of land use planning activities and project work plans, including rezonings, subdivisions, development permits, and zoning bylaw amendments. This position plays a key role in supporting Mosaic’s development pipeline, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to advance projects through regulatory approvals. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to :

• Preparing, submitting, and coordinating land use applications such as rezonings, subdivisions, OCP and zoning bylaw amendments, and development permits;
• Leading multidisciplinary consultant teams (i.e., environmental, geotechnical, civil engineering, urban design);
• Liaising with municipal staff, community stakeholders, First Nations, and consultants to advance approvals;
• Analyzing political and land use context to develop project-specific entitlement strategies;
• Monitoring project budgets and timelines to ensure alignment with approved allocations;
• Supporting planning initiatives in Mosaic’s key development areas;
• Contributing to the planning pipeline by identifying opportunities to optimize land use, lot layouts, and market potential;
• Interpreting and applying planning policy documents and legislation; and
• Representing the company on local land use committees and fostering positive relationships with community members and government agencies.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000. Individual compensation is commensurate with skill, relevant experience, and education.
