Job descriptionCompute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables Set up and adjust production machineries / tools Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers) Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments Machinist Trade Certification Tool and Die Maker Trade Certification Machinist Red Seal Endorsment Tool and Die Maker Red Seal Certificate Certification by a provincial or territorial association Mastercam CAD / CAM AutoCAD Programming software Apprenticeship training Milling machines Surface grinders Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines Computer-aided design (CAD) Bondable Criminal record check Basic security clearance Confidential security clearance Own transportation Own vehicle Valid driver's licence Public transportation is not available Ability to work independently Fast-paced environment Tight deadlines Standing for extended periods Attention to detail Work under pressure Combination of sitting, standing, walking Tools Steel-toed safety boots Safety glasses / goggles Accurate Dependability Efficient interpersonal skills Excellent oral communication Excellent written communication Initiative Team player Quick learner Client focus Values and ethics Organized Dental plan Disability benefits Health care plan Bonus Group insurance benefits Life insurance Night shift premium Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP) Free parking available Parking available Variable or compressed work week
