Position Summary

As a Yard Associate, you will play a key role in assisting customers with their building material needs while maintaining a safe, efficient, and organized yard environment. You’ll support operations by loading and unloading materials, ensuring product accuracy, and contributing to a positive, customer-focused experience. This position requires strong communication, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to safety and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

• Greet customers promptly and professionally, providing first-class service at all times.
• Offer assistance and product knowledge to ensure customer satisfaction.

Loading and Unloading

• Safely assist contractors and customers with loading and unloading vehicles.
• Operate forklifts and other yard equipment in compliance with safety regulations.

Yard Maintenance

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard, sheds, and special-order areas.

Product Handling & Inventory

• Verify and process returned products accurately, ensuring integrity and correct counts.
• Support inventory control with accurate documentation and reporting of damaged or missing items.
• Assist with restocking and organizing materials as required.
• Ensure all products leaving the yard are properly invoiced and/or paid for.
• Verify and update product codes as necessary.

Deliveries

• Accompany delivery drivers and assist with deliveries as required.

Safety & Compliance

• Maintain a safe work environment by following all company health and safety policies.
• Immediately report safety concerns or hazards to management.

• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Yard Supervisor.
