Southridge is an independent day school located in South Surrey, BC with 696 students enrolled from Kindergarten to Grade 12. We invite applications for a part‑time temporary (0.40 FTE) Science Teacher for the Senior School, commencing March 30 and ending June 12, 2026.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver the core Science program requirements in Chemistry 12 and Chemistry 11 Honours (the latter includes Advanced Placement components) following the BC Ministry of Education curriculum and the Southridge Senior School Educational Plan.
- Collaboratively plan with the department to develop consistent, well‑articulated programs.
- Assess and report on student academic progress and effort, highlighting areas of achievement and those needing further development.
- Supervise and manage student deportment, including behaviour and uniform expectations.
- Participate in core school functions and special events.
- Other duties as outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Education degree with undergraduate studies in science.Valid BC teaching certificate.Knowledge of Harkness discussion‑based teaching and learning (asset).Experience teaching in a technology‑rich environment (asset).Highly collegial and collaborative team partner.Advanced Placement experience (asset).Experience teaching at the Senior School level in an independent school.Effective interpersonal skills for advising students and parents.Proven understanding of adolescent social and emotional needs.Values
