Summary
The Welding Operator lays out and welds fabricated, cast and forged components to assemble hubs to sprockets according to specifications on production work order. Uses calipers to check conformance of workpiece.
First year apprentices are welcome to apply.
Salary : $29.00 to $38.00 / hr depending on experience.
Shift : 8-hour shift Monday to Friday.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Practices safe and good housekeeping procedures.
- Completes in-process inspection sheets, fills out daily time sheets.
- Checks sign board to ensure that previous operation has been completed.
- Brings material from queue area to machine.
- Move WIP to next operation’s queue area and move job tag to next operation’s signboard to ensure that operation is completed.
- Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly and welding.
- Lays out positions, aligns and fits components together.
- Sets up equipment and welds parts using arc, submerged arc and gas welding equipment.
- Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and reassembling parts.
- Performs own quality check on welded product.
- Uses calipers to measure workpiece.
- Knows location and use of all tooling and measuring equipment used in the department.
- Understands operation and sequence of machine and can make standard set-ups by changing machine conditions.
- Other duties as assigned
Education / Experience :
Ability to perform basic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).Reading and writing skills in English are necessary to perform the job.Machine shop experience is helpful.First year apprentices are welcome to apply.Benefits :
