Job Responsibilities / duties
Assist clients with activities of daily living, such as feeding, lifts and transfers, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene and toiletingPerform delegated tasks for duties such as catheter care, suppositories, non‑sterile dressings and mobilization routines for complex care clientsAdminister medication to clients and provide medication reminders, in accordance to established policyPlans, prepares and serves meals and shops for groceriesObserves clients and their environments and report unsafe conditions and behavioral and physical changesCompletes and maintains related records and documentation such as communication books and progress notesWorking in group homes with individuals with developmental disabilities such as Spinal Cord Injury, Dementia and Down SyndromePerforms other related duties as assignedQualifications
Grade 12 completionFood Safe CertificateRegistration with BC Care Aide Association
Class 4 BC Driver’s license and access to a vehicleUp to date immunization record including a current TB test within 1 year.A satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Check issued in the past 12 monthsAble to work independently as well as part of a team, with excellent organizational skills to manage your schedule.Compassionate, respectful, and sincere manner, with ability to deal with conflict in a diplomatic and professional manner Effective problem‑solving and conflict management skills.This is a physically demanding position and requires hand, arm and shoulder dexterity, sensory ability, lifting to a maximum of approximately fifty‑five (55) pounds, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and frequent movement.Knowledge & abilities
