We are currently looking for Full-Time Clinical Assistant to join our team of Physicians at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital located in Grande Prairie, Northern Alberta. The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital is a 250-bed acute care facility with a busy emergency department, ICU, NICU and specialty services in OBGYN, orthopedic surgery, general surgery, ophthalmology, ENT, urology, palliative care, pediatrics, and psychiatry as well as radiation therapy services. There is a total of six operating rooms daily, with the capacity to expand to 10 operating rooms, after-hours call, acute pain service and pre-admission clinics. The City of Grande Prairie is an economically strong and culturally diverse large urban centre, with a population of 75,820 and catchment area population of about 250,000. Grande Prairie provides a wide choice of recreation, education, shopping and entertainment opportunities. Grande Prairie is a full-service urban centre with a Multiplex Recreational Centre, a Community College, numerous cultural events, alpine & cross-country skiing, mountain biking, camping and more. The Grande Prairie Regional Airport connects the region to the Calgary and Edmonton international airports with daily scheduled flights provided by Air Canada and WestJet. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
Description :
The Clinical Assistant (CA) will support Physicians with all in-patient acute care and Emergency Department care at the GPRH from patient admission to discharge. You will have comprehensive knowledge of current Clinical Assistant theory and practice. Duties will include, but not limited to, admissions (may include history taking and limited physical exams); assisting with rounds by checking new results on patients; attending to patients in the ED to gather history, review charts and generate problem lists; responding to concerns from the nurses as needed; assessing response to therapies; establishing goals of care with patients; liaising with patient's families and reporting to the most responsible practitioner. The ideal candidate will possess good communication skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks, and work well under pressure.
