As the Anti-Racism Learning and Development Strategist, you will work within the Organizational Stream of the Anti-Racism Program and align with directors, managers, and interested parties.
One of your key responsibilities will be to identify, research, analyze, and recommend learning and development actions to address systemic racism, racial inequity, and racial discrimination.
You will also focus on supporting the development and implementation of an anti-racism education and training strategy.Primary duties include :
- Receive and respond to learning and development anti-racism requests, conduct workshops, facilitate engagements / conversations, and provide guidance to business units or community partners.
- Provide anti-racism expertknowledge andunderstanding onmatterspertaining tothe experiences of Indigenous, Black, and diverse Racialized peoples.
- Develop learning and development toolsandprocessesthatsupport Corporate orcommunity partnersto identify, address and remove racial inequities in City services, programs, and policies.
- Understand complex situations and the political context of ongoing actions and devise learning spaces and platforms to develop anti-racism competencies.
- Support the development of anti-racism and anti-hate learningopportunities includingformaltraining, awareness initiatives, experiential learnings, communities ofpractice, and strategic discussions.
- Plan, co-develop and implement community anti-racism learning opportunities.
- Develop project timelines and implementation plans in collaboration with the Anti-Racism Program Management Team.
- Co-develop learning and development anti-racism strategies to a wide range of groups, including but not limited to post-secondary partners;
communitygroups; Business Units tocollectively advance racial equity and racial justice through training and education initiatives.
Qualifications
- A degree in Social Work, Education, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Political Science, Policy Development or a related field and at least 5 years related experience OR;
- A graduate degree in Social Work, Education, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Political Science, Policy Development or a related field and at least 3 years related experience.
- Knowledge of business planning and implementation along with practical experience with diverse types of governance models, project management, and negotiation skills with diverse audiences of focus is required.
- Lived experience as a member of an underrepresented community or experience working with and as an ally for persons from an underrepresented community is required.
- Experience with facilitation, curriculum development, people relations, engaging with the public and customer services, and project management is preferred.
- Success in this position requires demonstrated abilities in : Building trusting relationships with interested parties and influencing others.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, strategic planning skills, well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.Understand, interpret, and communicate complex information about anti-racism.
Prioritize, build consensus among interested parties and influence without authority.A solid understanding of anti-racism, systemic racism, living and lived experience, racial equity, strategy and policy development, and an understanding of systemic racism issues experienced by Indigenous, Black, and diverse Racialized communities.
