Job Summary

The Team

The Oliver Osoyoos Similkameen teams covers the areas including Oliver, Osoyoos, Keremeos and Princeton. We are part of the Integrated Child and Youth team for SD53. Our team consists of 4 generalist clinicians, a specialist Infant Mental Health Clinician, a specialist High Intensity Outreach Clinician and a Mental Health Support Worker. The team has strong relationships in the community and spend a lot of time in outreach at the schools or other community settings.

The Role

The position involves outreach to small rural communities, where Child and Youth Mental Health Clinicians deliver direct clinical services such as intake, assessment, treatment, and crisis intervention for children and youth from birth to age 18 and their families. Clinicians work flexibly in home, school, and community settings, building and maintaining relationships through consultation to ensure coordinated services and positive outcomes for those they support.

Qualifications :

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Masters in Counselling, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master's level in a similar subject may be considered.

NOTE : If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.

  • Minimum of one (1) year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver's license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
  • Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following :

  • Two (2) years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.

    About this Position :

    This position has full time on-site requirements. This position can be based in any of the following Ministry of Children & Family Development offices : Keremeos, Oliver, Osoyoos

    Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.
