The Opportunity

McElhanney is seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Nanaimo, BC (other Vancouver Island locations may be considered). This role offers the chance to shape our geotechnical services in a growing, small‑office environment while benefitting from the support of our wider network of Geotechnical Professionals across British Columbia and Alberta.

What You’ll Do

• Deliver geotechnical solutions for civil infrastructure projects, including transportation, water & wastewater systems, slope stability, buildings, and marine structures.
• Undertake investigations and studies, interpreting and documenting results.
• Prepare fee estimates and proposals for geotechnical assignments.
• Contribute to business development and client management.
• Manage project schedules and budgets efficiently.
• Provide oversight, guidance, direction and mentoring of junior technical staff.
• Grow technical expertise to support current and future McElhanney business and Geotechnical team.

What Can We Offer You

The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $140,000 per annum, commensurate with education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The base salary is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position. The total compensation package includes a generous bonus plan, comprehensive benefits, safe & inclusive workplace culture, professional development support, career progression opportunities, and relocation assistance where applicable.
