About the Role

This Administrative role lies within our Health and Safety Team, and is an integral part of the Human Resources Department. This position will report to the Supervisor of Health and Safety.

Your Responsibilities

Responsible for the day-to-day administrative tasks supporting the effective, efficient and comprehensive implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and developing a safe and healthful workplace for all of Autosystems.

Some of the Duties include :

  • Ensure the OHSMS and EMS requirements are supported and maintained in accordance with ISO45001, ISO14001, Government and Corporate Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • Assist on all audits and inspections
  • Intake and maintain Zero Harm suggestion system ensuring champions are assigned and followed up with in alignment of Autosystems targets.
  • Support action plans, enter monthly environmental data and support ergonomic submissions in internal tracking system (HSELinx).
  • Assist with the completion of all accident / incident investigation reports ensuring implementation of corrective actions and inputting data into internal tracking system (HSELinx)
  • Support databases that track statistics and assist in recommendations to Management to ensure continued improvement of workplace Health, Safety and Environmental programs.
  • Provide necessary WSIB or contractor documentation to applicable parties, as required.
  • Obtain all necessary documentation and track contractors as per division contractor requirements.
  • Assist in implementation of health and safety policies, procedures and programs to reduce and eliminate injuries and illnesses.
  • Support Autosystems WHMIS and chemical program, assisting with chemical inventory and WHMIS training.
  • Coordinate the activities of the JHSC and Ergonomics Committee, including creating agenda and taking minutes for meetings.
  • Assist with claims management including supporting Return to Work programs for work and non-work related injuries / illnesses.
  • Support delivery of Health, Safety and Environmental training to all levels of the organization including onboarding / orientation of new employees.
  • Ensure due diligence supported with obtaining and filing of information related to EHS training and programs including updating all communication boards.

Who we are looking for

Magna Autosystems is seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant to join our team at our Belleville, ON location.

Your preferred qualifications

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent education required.
  • Health and Safety Certificate or Diploma or Post-secondary education in a similar field - OR - an equivalent combination of education and experience in an administrative role.
  • CRST would be an asset.
  • Certified Joint Health and Safety member is preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of Health and Safety experience in an Industrial / Manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to communication with all levels of the Organization.
  • An understanding of the OHSA, Regulations and WSIA.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-started with the ability to prioritize many different tasks.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to gather and analyze information.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel between plants.
  • Ability to work accurately, paying close attention to detail.
