About the Program

Diverse Abilities Religious Education (DARE) provides religious education and support to members of the community with diverse abilities and that are 18+. Sessions will be held on a monthly basis.

About the Role

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Curriculum Development and Implementation :  Collaborate with the Principal, Teacher Mentors, and other team members to develop and adapt the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of participants. Implement inclusive teaching methods and best practices to create an accessible learning experience.
  • Participant Engagement and Support :  Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where participants feel supported and engaged. Provide individualized support to participants as needed, taking into account their specific learning styles and abilities.
  • Communication and Collaboration :  Maintain open and regular communication with participants, their families, and other stakeholders. Collaborate with colleagues, including Teacher Mentors and other program staff, to enhance the overall program effectiveness.
  • Professional Development :  Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in inclusive education and teaching methodologies. Stay informed about best practices in special education and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Assessment and Reporting :  Implement assessment strategies to monitor participant progress and identify areas for improvement. Provide regular reports on participant achievements, challenges, and overall classroom dynamics.

About You

Skills and Competencies :

  • Bachelor's degree in education or a relevant field (preferred not required).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a compassionate approach to teaching.
  • Compliance : Teachers are expected to adhere to all relevant legal and ethical guidelines, ensuring the privacy, inclusivity, and well-being of program participants.
