On behalf of our client, we are recruiting for a Programmer Analyst to join their team in Edmundston, NB in a full-time role.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing their systems to aid foresters and other staff in carrying out their day-to-day work.
An ability to work collaboratively to develop practical solutions is essential in this role.
Responsibilities :
- Developing and maintaining mobile applications that feed the FIS
- Interfacing with systems users and a Managed Service Provider to ensure computer systems are effective
- Advancing Geographic Information System (GIS) processes
- Providing interfaces to forest management tools and models on GIS and business systems and generating reports
- Working with Global Positioning System (GPS) data and attaching it to forestry data
- Overseeing GIS updates
- Identifying and implementing new and innovative ways for collecting data to reduce workloads, minimize redundant data entry, and decrease data processing errors
- Maintaining currency on technology and applications to assist staff functions while considering practicalities of the business
- Collaborating with forestry and business staff to improve and manage the Forest Information System (FIS) that supports sustainable forestry operations and business functions
- Supporting contractors which may include hardware installation
- Contributing to business development opportunities as required
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc. Computer Science) or equivalent; or minimum of three years related experience and training
- Proficient working with Python, SQL , Visual Basic ,ASPX, JavaScript, Java, jquery, HTML, XML
- A desire to provide solutions to a wide range of users from field staff to senior management
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts
- Ability to effectively respond to requests or inquiries from internal / external customers or regulatory agencies
- Knowledge or ability to become proficient with the hardware, operating systems, SQL databases, software and programming languages used by the company
- A working knowledge of data collection and transfer from mobile devices
- A high level of flexibility in work schedules to accommodate the range of staff serviced and their various work schedules
- Ability to work in the field with forestry staff
- Strong spoken and written English communication skills
