Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Program Manager, Dental & Vision, the Dental Assistant will deliver oral health programming & services as required by the Ontario Public Health Standards, associated oral health protocols and the Health Protection and Promotion Act. Assist with Program Assistant back‑up and with designated screening and clinical preventive services. The Dental Assistant assists with community & school‑based oral health screening, assessment, preventive treatment & instruction, including health promotion, disease prevention, and program evaluation and planning in order to promote optimal oral care for all St. Thomas, Elgin, and Oxford County residents. Contributes to raising the awareness of St. Thomas, Elgin, and Oxford County residents along with providing knowledge of the importance of oral health as it relates to overall health.

Terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement.
Salary Range : $27.16 / hr to $32.04 / hr based on verification of qualifications and experience. (70 hours in a two‑week period).
OMERS pension and a comprehensive Health and Dental benefits package upon completion of the probationary period.
A criminal reference check completed within the last six (6) months from a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPID), inclusive of vulnerable sector screening, will be required of the successful candidate.
Immunization Requirements : Fully vaccinated against COVID‑19, are able to provide proof of immunization, and acknowledgement to follow Southwestern Public Health's policies and processes related to COVID‑19 management in the workplace.
