CASUAL LIBRARY RESOURCE TECHNICIAN
As a collaborative team member, Casual Library Resource Technicians are responsible for the efficient daily operation of the library services within an educational setting.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Maintain individual school resource collections including purchasing all print, non-print and audio-video resources, cataloguing materials, the circulation of library materials (sign-out, return renewal), and conducting an annual inventory;
- Assist in the monitoring and planning / preparation of annual estimates for school library needs;
- Responsible for sending out overdue notices, compiling lists of overdue materials and users with materials owing;
- Bulletin board preparation;
- Professional library maintenance, vertical file organization, and technical service requirements;
- Shelf reading, book shelving;
- Provide assistance with students including library and research skills instruction, reading to students and maintaining routines and rules in the library;
- Organize and operate book fairs and other promotional activities;
- Assist staff with resources and reference materials as required;
- Assist and support Literacy initiatives; and
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Successful completion of a two-year community college library technician program plus a minimum of 6 months related job experience;Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work harmoniously with students and staff;Ability to take initiative;Familiarity with computers, audio visual equipment and the ability to conduct preventive maintenance;Keyboarding minimum 35 words per minute; andReliable transportation.Applications Must Include :
