What can I expect to do in this role?

Working as the divisional representative for the Regional Operations Division, responsible for leading the delivery of resource management advice and divisional coordination / implementation, this position will :

  • Lead and / or participates in projects and new initiatives
  • Analyze needs against regional and divisional priorities and develop solutions
  • Lead or coordinate the development of Indigenous strategic and operational plans for implementation; perform environmental scans and drafts strategic plans
  • Provide operational leadership, guidance and advice through consultation, negotiations and conflict resolution
  • Develop Indigenous training materials and delivers training to Ministry management and staff, staff in other ministries and agencies, and stakeholders

    • How do I qualify?

    Program and Project Management

  • You have project planning and management experience to lead and manage multiple, medium- to large-sized projects within budget and timelines
  • You have leadership skills to lead and direct the work of staff assigned to projects and other initiatives and to chair / lead working groups and task teams

    • Interpersonal and Consultation

  • You have interpersonal and negotiation skills to gain support and commitment for projects or a specific course of action
  • You have interpersonal, team work and influencing skills to work with staff in the division and other divisions to ensure ongoing positive collaboration
  • You have proven ability to work with diverse groups, including the general public, to converse effectively with a variety of contacts, stimulate discussions and provide advice on Indigenous issues

  • You can prepare a range of written materials such as briefings and policy proposals
  • You are able to prepare presentations and brief management

    • Analytical and Problem-Solving

  • You can research, evaluate and address needs, issues and concerns of the public and ministry partners
  • You have strategic thinking to identify and assess gaps and opportunities for business / process improvement

    • Knowledge

    You have knowledge of :

  • Indigenous studies, treaties and agreements to lead, facilitate and / or provide advice related to Indigenous affairs within the Division
