The GO Expansion scope includes new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems, maintenance, and much more.

Alstom is seeking a Senior Project Planner to become a member of the Project Core Team. This individual will contribute to support the scheduling teams and provide and liaise with the Finance team for internal and external reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Previous experience of managing planning teams in a multi-project context and providing reporting is required.
  • Responsible for maintaining the project / program schedule using best practices such as : reflecting the project execution strategy in the schedule, capturing the entire scope of work, setting reasonable activity durations, logically sequencing and linking all activities, keeping date constraints to a minimum, avoiding dangling activities, checking the critical path, assigning resources, checking the schedule contains reasonable float, verifying the resource plan, running a schedule risk analysis, and setting schedule baseline.
  • Manage efficiently planning deliverable issuance.
  • Facilitate the synchronization and communication of internal stakeholders.
  • Report proactively the schedule progress to various stakeholders (customer, core team, corporate).

Main Responsibilities :

  • Contribute with the Finance Project Manager to Earned Value Management.
  • Contribute to the project baseline, and ensure its acceptance (internally and by the Customer).
  • Ensure the consistency of all the internal and external Stakeholders commitments, and manage the schedules interface.
  • Perform schedule analysis & trade-offs to close identified gaps or schedule issues.
  • Organize periodic project schedule sessions.
  • Provide a timely updated schedule situation highlighting the gap between the actual and the baseline.
  • Focus on early identification of potential delays (critical paths) including the status on risks and margin related to schedule.
  • Prepare schedule and progress reports for Customer or Lead Unit or Partners.
  • Provide support to Project Core Team on potential issues related to project schedules.
  • Apply the Project Scheduling Process.
  • Promote time management practices awareness in the project team.
  • Contribute to the return of experience (REX) and improvements, share best practices, schedule templates.

Performance measurements in contract or program execution :

  • Baseline approved (internally and by the Customer).
  • Regular and consistent scheduling updates, with potential delays analysis.
  • Delivery on-time delivery of KPIs (OTD, Gate Reviews GO on time, sales, cash, etc.) and planning documents.
  • Standard metrics measuring schedule robustness (PSI - Project Schedule Integrity).

Educational Requirements :

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or in a related discipline.

Experience :

  • 7-10 years’ experience as PrPM / SSM / Project Development Planning Manager / Reporting Manager.
  • Project Management and industrial background.
  • Experience in complex projects (Design-build).
  • Familiarity with internal processes (Tenders, Projects, Engineering, Industrial, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Quality, and their interfaces).
  • Experience with resource load schedule (material, manpower, etc.), Schedule of Values (SOV), Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS-Project software is mandatory.
  • Advanced MS Office proficiency, particularly MS-Excel.
  • Desirable overall knowledge of railway products and systems.
  • Agility to juggle schedules (detailed execution and customer schedules) simulations and various scenarios, and changing project goals.
  • Forensic planning.
  • Rigorous, structured, and sense of anticipation.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, resilience, and team working spirit.
  • Conflict management and multitasking.
  • Ability to challenge the project team and be highly proactive in proposing solutions.
  • Comfortable in an international and multi-cultural environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, trustworthy, and self-motivated.
  • Strict attention to detail and process-oriented.
  • Strong analytical skills.
