The duties and responsibilities of a Vocational Instructor include continuing excellence in one’s field, instructional and professional duties, professional development and service.

Professional development activity that is intended to promote teaching excellence, subject area competence, and technical competence in the area of professional or instructional expertise.
Education and Experience
1. Successful completion of a related apprenticeship program and a Certificate of Apprenticeship with an Interprovincial endorsement.
2. An undergraduate degree and post secondary teaching experience are preferred; however, applicants with an equivalent combination of teaching and work experience may be considered.
3. An Instructor’s Diploma or valid BC Teacher’s Certificate appropriate to the instructional assignment is preferred, and will be required following appointment in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
4. Six to ten years recent relevant experience.

Candidates must be committed to a team approach, demonstrate good written and oral English skills and have good interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have an exceptional teaching record with demonstrated learner-centred teaching philosophy. Successful applicants will be an integral part of the team that will help Okanagan College realize the promise of a world‑class college. Candidates will be comfortable in a computerized environment and demonstrate knowledge of programs relevant to their discipline. The successful applicant will be able to encourage communication between students and faculty.

Position End Date (if temporary) : 06 / 30 / 2026
Schedule : Given on‑call nature of position, schedule, campus location, and frequency of instruction may vary.
Typical instructional day : 7.5 hours long. Typical instructional week : four days and would not exceed 30 hours.
Initial on‑call contract is setup until Jun 30, 2026 but is not a guarantee of work for the entire contract period.
Annual Salary / Hourly Rate : Salary range $71,846 to $115,129 annually; normal starting salary between $78,872 and $85,897 annually, dependent on relevant education and experience.
