About the role :
Global Procurement and Payments (GPP) focus is to support Sun Life’s winning strategy and deliver bottom line results by driving value on our business’ external spend management. Analytics Center of Excellence (CoE) leverages data and analytics to enable Category Management and Strategic Sourcing to make more informed, data-driven decisions, optimize third party spend, improve quality and enhance supplier relationships. We do so by deriving actionable insights from third party spend; deeply supporting RFPs, renewals & negotiations, by partnering with category managers and strategic sourcing leads across Sun Life globally.
The Senior Consultant will be a part of a collaborative and caring team that works on the most challenging and interesting problems in this space. They will work in a fast pace and dynamic environment, with exposure to senior leaders, and be able to build a broad knowledge of Sun Life’s businesses. The successful candidate will lead workstreams with minimal supervision, including analyzing RFP bid information, third party spend data, compiling metrics, conducting in-depth research and more.
What will you do?
- Support GPP’s Category Management & Strategic Sourcing team on sourcing event (with should cost models, bid analysis, market benchmark, scenario analysis), strategy development (with historical and forecasted spend trends) and spend reporting (with monthly / quarterly / annual reports and slides for various stakeholders)
- Extract, transform and interpret data at the lowest level of detail to analyze spend, identify trends, insights and opportunities
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative metrics from RFP bids to guide decisions on awarding and contracting
- Conduct market research and benchmarking analysis to evaluate potential suppliers, track market trends, and identify emerging opportunities for strategic partnerships
- Prepare relevant data to enable tracking of management information and KPIs such as category savings, vendor SLAs
- Acquire, maintain and develop expertise, knowledge and information to support continuous improvement from relevant internal and external sources
- Work directly and effectively with various teams and share your expertise and insights with colleagues to expand our GPP knowledge and refine our approaches to come up with the best solutions and drive outcomes

- Structure ambiguous problems, derive insights from complex information into clear takeaways and actionable recommendations, using both qualitative and quantitative methods
- Communicate effectively with all audiences, including senior leaders, in a clear, compelling and concise manner – including but not limited to creating clear, organized slides and other format of communication that draws out important messages and supporting data, produce near “executive-ready” slides and outputs, effectively present specific content to audience and contribute to discussions
- Demonstrate an ability and drive to learn within a fast-moving team, provide flexible and creative support, proactively identify opportunities.
- Establish trust-based relationships with teams to better serve them by blending critical thinking with hands-on experiences, helping teams address their most critical problems. Listen to and appropriately address stakeholder feedback

What do you need to succeed?
5+ years experience in Consultancy, Financial Services, Data Analytics / Management or Procurement AnalyticsUndergraduate degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, business or procurement and supply focusCompetency in Microsoft Office programsHigh proficiency in data analytics and visualization tools (IE / MS Excel, Tableau, Alteryx and advanced with functionality such as pivots, power query, formulas) a strong ability to interpret data, draw insightful observations and state risks / limitationsStrong problem-solving skills with an ability to understand and lead complex analyses from end to end including gathering requirements, assessing data integrity / completeness, building sophisticated models, deriving insightsAbility to grasp and communicate complex ideas and data insights clearly and effectively at an executive level, both verbally and in writingStrong results-oriented project management skills; ability to prioritize and balance competing priorities; well organized, with high attention to detailAbility to work independently on assignments with appropriate judgment including resourcefulness and out-of-the-box thinking in navigating ambiguous situations / problemsAbility to engage and collaborate effectively with others outside of Analytics CoEWhat's in it for you?
