Machine Learning Research Scientist – AI-Driven Drug Discovery

Remote or Hybrid in Vancouver (U.S. or Canada – PST Time Zone)

About Us

Our client is a fast-growing, AI-driven drug discovery startup on a mission to accelerate the time it takes to bring new drugs to human trials. By leveraging cutting-edge machine learning techniques, they aim to revolutionize small molecule drug design and optimization. Currently a 10-person team , they are looking to expand to 15 team members and are seeking top-tier ML researchers to help push the boundaries of AI in drug discovery.

The Role

As a Machine Learning Research Scientist , you will :

Design, implement, and test different scenarios within our from-scratch ML architecture to optimize the properties of small molecule drugs.
Continually improve the robustness of our existing codebase through refactoring, testing, and best engineering practices.
Apply our ML pipeline to new drug targets , ensuring state-of-the-art performance and scalability.

This is a fully remote role , but you must be able to work within Pacific Time Zone (PST) hours .

Must-Haves

Ph.D. in Computer Science or Mathematics (Master’s degree acceptable if qualifications below are met).

First-author publications in NeurIPS, ICLR, or ICML (secondary preference for AAAI, AISTATS, UAI, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, or ACM). Publications must be in the main conference, not workshops.

Expertise in Machine Learning , with deep experience in :

Diffusion models

Transformers

Bayesian optimization

2+ years of experience developing robust code in larger projects, including :

Code review & refactoring

Unit testing & version control

Collaborative software development

Strong Python and PyTorch expertise
