Job description

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership :

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for the Career Colleges division that aligns with the overall mission and goals of the institution.
  • Identify market trends and opportunities to drive growth and innovation.
  • Ensure program mix is suited to the various markets served by the Career College.
  • Provide thought leadership in the field of career-focused education.

Operational Excellence :

  • Oversee the Career Colleges division, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education and services during the student lifecycle.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess and improve divisional performance.
  • Ensure compliance to meet the requirements of the Ontario Private Career Colleges Act, Private Career Colleges Act of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick Private Occupational Training Act, Canada and Provincial Student Loans and any other accrediting bodies ( Law Society Ontario, Canadian Council of Massage Therapy Schools, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain appropriate relationships with Career Colleges Ontario (CCO), National Association of Career Colleges (NACC), New Brunswick Association of Private Colleges and Universities (NBAPCU), Private Colleges Association Nova Scotia (PCANS), and other professional associations as required.
  • Team Leadership :

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of academic and administrative professionals.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and mentor team members to ensure their professional growth and success.
  • Oversee College Leadership Planning and Weekly Adjustment Meetings
  • Academic Excellence :

  • Ensure that the curriculum and programs offered by the Career Colleges meet or exceed industry standards and accreditation requirements.
  • Foster a culture of academic excellence and innovation, promoting student success and retention.
  • Financial Management :

  • Develop and manage the budget for the Career Colleges division, ensuring financial sustainability and growth.
  • Identify opportunities to generate revenue and manage resources efficiently.
  • Stakeholder Engagement :

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, industry partners, and accrediting bodies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with industry leaders and employers.
  • Engage in business development with employers and other industry associations to gain feedback on hiring and employment trends.
  • Reporting :

  • Attend scheduled meetings with the President and Executive Team, as well as the College Leadership Team.
  • Active participation as member of the Executive Team.
  • Provide periodic reports, budgets and performance reviews to the President as required.
  • Education & Programs :

  • Assess, on a continuing basis, the educational needs of the College; devise and deliver appropriate programs and services to meet these needs; monitor results to ensure high quality.
  • Developing, maintaining, and evaluating the academic programs and student services of the College and creating a climate that enhances student learning, stimulates creative approaches to teaching and learning, and motivates staff, faculty, and students to optimum achievement.
  • Ensure “Student-First” service attitude is demonstrated by all employees in their engagement with students, customers, employees, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned, and which are in the best interests of the College.

    What you bring to the position

  • University degree in business or management or similar along with a track record of educational leadership.
  • An MBA or other graduate degree in an appropriate field of expertise is preferred.
  • 10+ years of senior executive leadership experience.
  • Demonstrate collaborative experience with working with a Board of Directors / Advisors.
  • Strong business acumen, budget planning, and management skills.
  • Proven track record in the development of industry, government, and community partnerships.
  • Refined administrative and team leadership experience, preferably in a post-secondary environment; teaching experience at the post-secondary level is an asset.
  • Experience in higher education online education management including strategic planning, budgetary, and program development.
  • Strong interpersonal and English communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations and facilitate group meetings.
  • Ability to develop proposals and respond to Requests for Proposals.
  • Ability to resolve complex issues and provide appropriate and creative resolutions when required.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Teams).
  • A reliable vehicle, valid provincial driver’s license, and credit card is required.
