Job Overview :
We are looking for a creative and detail-focused Space Planner to join our team. This position is key in designing and implementing merchandising strategies that elevate the in-store experience. The Space Planner will collaborate closely with merchants, work hands-on with fixtures and displays, and travel to various retail locations to ensure brand consistency and quality execution. The ideal candidate is analytical, self-motivated, and has a strong grasp of store layout optimization and visual storytelling.
Primary Responsibilities :
Visual Merchandising & Design :
- Partner with merchants to transform product information into compelling visual displays.
- Develop and pilot merchandising designs at the Innovation Centre before rolling out.
- Make design decisions about display elements, factoring in size, weight, and durability.
- Utilize Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to create visual concepts and layouts for merchandising.
- Ensure consistency in the execution of visual merchandising across various retail locations.
- Manage the setup and dismantling of displays while evaluating their effectiveness.
- Stay informed on retail trends and competitor strategies to innovate display designs.
Data Analysis & Store Optimization :
Review sales data and customer behavior to enhance store layouts and merchandising strategies.Identify areas for improvement in merchandising execution and offer recommendations.Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as marketing, operations, and category management.Qualifications & Skills :
A degree or diploma in Visual Merchandising, Retail Design, Graphic Design, or a related field.Minimum of 2 years of experience in visual merchandising, retail display design, or space planning.Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for creating merchandising layouts.Strong skills in Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP).Ability to spot discrepancies in data and improve store layout strategies.Self-starter with an eye for detail and the ability to work independently.Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.A valid driver’s license and personal vehicle are required for site visits.Preferred Qualifications :
Experience in home improvement, retail, or large-scale store environments.Knowledge of retail marketing, branding, and sustainable merchandising practices.Understanding of customer behavior and the principles of visual storytelling.Work Schedule & Expectations :
Primarily remote (80%), with occasional on-site work (20%) in Bolton and North York offices as needed.The role requires a proactive, self-managed individual who can maintain a structured work schedule.Hands-on involvement with store fixtures and displays is essential to the role.
