Position Summary
We are seeking a LINC Instructor to facilitate English language classes for adult newcomers, fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment. The instructor will deliver lessons aligned with Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) principles and PBLA guidelines, supporting learners in their language acquisition journey. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching, adaptable, and committed to creating a welcoming classroom experience.
Reporting Structure
Reports to LINC Coordinator
Instructional Delivery
- Deliver English language instruction to adult learners in accordance with the CLB principles and PBLA Guidelines.
- Create engaging and inclusive classroom environments that respect and value cultural diversity.
- Design module plans and lesson plans that align with the Revised Canadian Language Benchmarks 2012 and the LINC Curriculum Guidelines.
- Provide appropriate class orientations that implement safe practices.
Assessment and Progress Monitoring
Develop assessment tasks for ongoing evaluation of learners’ progress based on CLB and PBLA Guidelines.Benchmark student progress accurately and provide constructive feedback to support their learning journey.Reporting and Documentation
Prepare and submit quarterly reports to the LINC Manager for program monitoring.Maintain attendance records and ensure all documentation meets program requirements.Technology Integration
Utilize online teaching tools (e.g., Avenue.ca) to support blended and digital learning environments.Incorporate multimedia and digital resources to enhance classroom instruction and learner engagement.Collaboration and Professional Development
Collaborate with other instructors and staff to share best practices and strategies for effective instruction.Participate in professional development activities, including LearnIT2teach training, to stay updated on best practices in ESL instruction.Qualifications
Undergraduate degree with a TESL Certification from a training institute accredited by TESL Canada.Minimum 1 year of experience teaching ESL to adult newcomers; ELSA or LINC experience preferred.Exceptional written and oral English language communication skills.Sound knowledge of Canadian Language Benchmarks and PBLA principles with the ability to benchmark student progress.Online teaching experience is an asset.Experience teaching Literacy is an asset.Familiarity with Avenue.ca and LearnIT2teach training and experience.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a group environment.Ability to work in a blended learning environment.Benefits
