Job Description

Our client in the manufacturing industry is seeking a Director of Procurement to join their team. The Director of Procurement is responsible for ensuring the consistency, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency of our procurement and sourcing processes; this role oversees a of six. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, the Director works closely with the VP to improve procurement, sourcing, and overall supply chain processes. This role requires a creative problem solver with strong leadership skills and a keen awareness of market trends. Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement strategies for procuring materials, supplies, and finished goods to meet fluctuating product and customer demands.
  • Lead supply chain functions to optimize resources, maximize profitability, and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Evaluate current inventories and procedures, recommending improvements to enhance supply chain efficiency and profitability.
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure quality and delivery standards are met; identify and qualify new suppliers.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior management regarding procurement, sourcing, and inventory management.
  • Develop alternative supplier bases, including options in the US, Mexico, Asia, and internationally.
  • Ensure accuracy in the Material / Inventory system, including inventory records, purchase orders, and shipping orders.
  • Apply strong cost / price analysis and negotiation skills when approving new vendors.
  • Enforce adherence to purchasing policies and manage the procurement and purchasing budget.
  • Promote best practices in procurement and strategic sourcing.
  • Collaborate with various departments within the organization.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and support strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Lead and develop a high-functioning team, participating in performance management and recruitment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement and strategic sourcing within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven success in sourcing manufactured components, raw materials, and finished goods domestically and from Asia, with creative solutions to manage supply chain needs and risks.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal, supervisory, and leadership skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Proactive in learning new processes / systems and driving continuous improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving and information-seeking abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop employees to achieve higher performance standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and computer literacy.
