Job description

The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Bureau Commander, Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau are seeking qualified individuals to join our Analytical team. In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will provide analytical support to enforcement efforts of investigators in the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFECT).

You are a self-starter, a collaborative team-builder, and confident in your capabilities to provide proactive analytical support to a diverse workforce within the Ministry of the Solicitor General and the Ontario Provincial Police. We are seeking qualified individuals to join our team.

  • Positions are fixed-term contract with possible extension.

There are two (2) positions to be filled, with temporary assignments with the possibility for extension. Successful internal candidates will return to their home position at the conclusion of the assignment. Only business related expenses will be provided. Note : This is an operational position requiring a high level of engagement with enforcement teams and managers. The successful applicant will be required to report to the work location to perform their duties in accordance with Ontario Public Service workplace policies.

    What can I expect to do in this role?

    In this role, you will conduct operational / tactical / strategic intelligence and crime analysis on relevant issues involving criminal activity in the Province of Ontario. You will develop various analytical intelligence products, propose solutions, operational strategies and provide strategic reports that will assist with the intelligence-led approaches to combatting organized crime, major crime and regional crime.

    How do I qualify?

    Mandatory

  • Ability to pass an OPP background / security investigation.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Knowledge of key issues associated organized crime, major crime and regional crime in Ontario.
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal cannabis legalization
  • Knowledge and experience analyzing different types of intelligence
  • Ability to develop analytical methodologies
  • Ability and experience analyzing and synthesizing information / intelligence utilizing graphics, diagrams, charts, etc.
  • Ability and experience preparing written assessments, notes, and presentations.
  • Skills in the use of computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel PowerPoint, ACESS, data processing, graphics and analytical software.
