Founding Backend Engineer (Node.js / TypeScript) - Rapidly Growing YC Company Toronto, Canada | In-Person (4 days / week) | Series Seed

Our client, a YC-backed company experiencing explosive growth (15X post-batch), is revolutionizing how businesses handle their data integration needs. They're seeking a founding Backend Engineer to join their high-caliber team in downtown Toronto.

Why This Role Matters : Join a team that's already supporting 75+ integrations and scaling rapidly. You'll be instrumental in shaping the core architecture of a platform that's solving complex technical challenges at scale, working with diverse data sources including IoT, telematics, weather, and traffic.

The Ideal Background :

3+ years of backend development experience, with 2+ years focused on Node.js and TypeScript
Deep expertise in AWS, particularly serverless and event-driven architectures
Track record of building and scaling API systems handling significant traffic
Experience as a founding engineer or in early-stage environments
Strong systems design background with proven ability to balance technical debt and rapid development

What You'll Own :

Enhance and scale a robust integration framework supporting 75+ integrations

Design and implement intuitive APIs that simplify customer implementations

Create reusable primitives and patterns to handle diverse technical challenges

Build tooling that improves testing, observability, and platform reliability

Drive architectural decisions that will shape the platform's future

The Compelling Package :

Significant equity (0.5-1.5% range)

Competitive base salary : CA$150K - CA$200K

3,000 / year healthcare spending account

3,000 / year lifestyle spending account

4 weeks paid vacation (not unlimited)

Prime downtown Toronto office location (Queen and University)
