Accounting Clerk

Responsibilities :

  • Manage accounts payable, including posting invoices, issuing cheques, and reconciling outstanding invoices in line with client and firm guidelines.
  • Perform accounts receivable tasks, such as charging client credit cards and posting cheque and electronic payments.
  • Handle disbursement postings.
  • Execute trust-related tasks, including depositing and disbursing trust funds in compliance with Law Society rules.
  • Prepare and review draft bills, finalizing invoices accurately.
  • Adhere to established accounting policies and procedures.
  • Take on additional related duties as required.
  • What you will need to succeed :

  • 1 year of experience as an accounting clerk.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • French is required; English is an asset. Necessary for communication in a primarily French-speaking environment while supporting occasional English interactions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Keen attention to detail and a client-service-oriented mindset.
  • Team player with a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities as needed.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with law firm billing processes and legal billing software (e.g., Elite or 3E) is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in a legal environment is highly desirable.
