SCOPE

TheCity of Surrey is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief HumanResources Officer (CHRO) to lead our Human Resources division.

Reporting to the General Manager Corporate Services the CHRO willbe responsible for overseeing all aspects of the City s humanresources functions and developing and implementing HR strategiespolicies and programs to support our workforce of diverse talentsand backgrounds.

The successful candidate will possess acomprehensive understanding of HR best practices a track record offostering a positive workplace culture and the ability to driveorganizational change through effective leadership andcollaboration.

EMPLOYMENTSTATUS

FulltimeExempt working 37.5 hours perweek.

AnnualSalary : $212858 to$250421

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developand implement HR strategies and initiatives that support the City soverall strategicdirection.
  • Overseeall aspects of human resources practices and processes includingrecruitment labour relations compensation and benefits learning anddevelopment occupational health and safety HRIS and employeeengagement.
  • Provideleadership and guidance to HR team members fostering a culture ofaccountability innovation and continuousimprovement.
  • Driveinitiatives to promote diversity equity and inclusion throughoutthe organization ensuring fair and equitable HRpractices.
  • Leadcollective bargaining with multiple unions and foster positivelabourrelations.
  • Ensurecompliance with all relevant employment laws regulations andpolicies and oversee HRrelated risk managementactivities.
  • Developand maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholdersincluding senior leaders managers and employees to support HRinitiatives and address employeeconcerns.
  • Providestrategic guidance and support on key organizationalinitiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Management Business Administration or arelatedfield.
  • 10years of progressive HR leadership experience preferably in apublic sector or large organizationalsetting.

Proventrack record of developing and implementing HR strategies thatdrive organizationalsuccess.

  • Strongknowledge of HR best practices employment laws andregulations.
  • Demonstratedleadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams toachieve goals andobjectives.
  • Excellentcommunication interpersonal and negotiation skills with the abilityto build effective relationships at all levels of theorganization.
  • Strategicthinker with the ability to anticipate and respond to changingbusiness needs andpriorities.
  • Commitmentto diversity equity and inclusion in theworkplace.
  • CertifiedHuman Resources Professional (CHRP) designation or equivalentcertificationpreferred.

A Bachelor s Degree in Human Resources or a related field.Chartered Human Resources Professional designation preferred(CPHR).

5 years progressively responsible human resourcesexperience within a unionized public sector environment at anadvisory level.

Strong labour relations with a good understandingof how to manage in unionized environments. Strong criticalthinking skills and an ability to interpret complex data and makesound decisions.

The ability to work independently, take initiativeand exercise good judgment. Excellent written and verbalcommunication skills.

A high degree of accuracy and attention todetail. An ability to thrive and multi-task within a fast paced,rapidly growing environment.
