Muwin Estate is currently seeking an enthusiastic Blending & Fermentation Specialist to join our team. As a fast-expanding company, we are looking for a team player that wishes to grow with the company on a long-term basis.

The position is based out of New Ross, Nova Scotia.

Reporting to the Winery Manager / Winemaker, the key responsibilities for the position will consist of :

Responsibilities and Duties :

  • Working with the cellar hand, perform daily tasks including : blending, fermentations , filtrations, racking, fining, cleaning and sanitation according to in-house protocols.
  • Perform standard lab analysis of sugars, alcohol, pH, TA, free and total SO2 etc.
  • Operating & maintaining cellar equipment
  • Creating weekly cellar schedules to ensure production goals are met
  • Inventory management and procurement
  • Representing the winery at events as needed

Required Skills :

  • Relevant degrees in Science, Engineering or from technical Programs considered
  • Minimum of 2 years of commercial winemaking or fermentation experience in a lead position
  • Ability to multitask on a regular basis and carry out required tasks with minimal supervision
  • Good computer literacy and familiarity with the use of spreadsheets
  • Excellent command of the English language - both written and oral
  • Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable in a team environment, customer focused from an operational perspective
  • Must have a positive behavior and be able to lead by example

Working Conditions :

  • This position requires physical effort which entails lifting and moving up to and including 25 Kgs
  • Able to work at heights (catwalk)
  • Willing to work in all weather conditions
  • Must be able and willing to work flexible hours, overtime or staggered hours in order to meet production needs.
  • The work load is expected to be 70% hands-on in the cellar and 30% laboratory and administrative tasks
